ABOUT
The Pearlseverance Scholarship was founded on March 1st of 2019 by Tianna Swearinger. The scholarship fund was created in loving memory of Tianna's late great-grandmother, Lille Pearl Swearinger. Tianna referred to Mrs. Swearinger as "Grandma Pearl," hence the name Pearl in the title of the scholarship. Grandma Pearl was the definition of what strength is. Tianna witnessed her great-grandmother experience some life challenges, but she never saw her give up. Through her actions, she taught Tianna the value of perseverance.
This scholarship is about rewarding students for their hard work. It is also about rewarding them for the strength, and perseverance they showed during their journey in school. For the inaugural year, the scholarship was only available to Tianna's high school alma mater. For the upcoming years, starting in 2020, the scholarships will be available to numerous counties in the Lakelands area in South Carolina. These counties include Greenwood , Abbeville, McCormick, Edgefield, and Laurens county. Below you will find a picture of the late Lillie Pearl Swearinger.
"My Grandma Pearl was the sweetest person I'd ever met as a child. She had a heart of gold. She was the matriarch and heartbeat of our family. You could just fill the love she had for you just by being in her presence. I'd just sit in her room and admire her. Through the things she did and said, she taught me some important life lessons. She taught me the value of perseverance and for that I am forever grateful. She touched my life and because of that I want to return the favor by touching the lives of others as well."
